Polaris Grey™ for Motors

April 26, 2011
Motor maintenance electricians over the last century have come to use a veritable laundry list of products when making their connections or “splices” in motor junction boxes. Variety was the spice of life, out of necessity, until NSi Industries LLC introduced Polaris Grey, a product designed with the specific purpose of making connections in motor junction boxes.

In the past, many make shift splices failed due to high heat resistance and shorts. Many times these faults were created by motor vibration. Vibration causes a rubbing condition that quite often will create a short due to poor insulation techniques implemented. Vibration will also cause high heat resistance and failure due to a loosening of the fine stranding wire most commonly used in motor connections.

Polaris Grey eliminates splaying and cutting of fine stranded conductor by using a pre-inserted ferrule in the connector. As the binding pressure screw is turned down on to the conductor the ferrule is actually crimped on to all of the stranding, pulling the strands in to a neat tight bundle. It is easier to maintain torque on the bundle than the loose stranding. Polaris Grey also has full body armor, a polymer coating with sufficient durometer, greatly reducing abrasion problems usually associated with motor vibration.

Connector burnout is easily preventable, using the insulated connector designed specifically for fine-stranded/flexible copper wire, DLO cable and motor lead wire.
